Cosmetology Program

COSMETOLOGY  1200 CLOCK HOURS

          

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The curriculum involves 1200 clock hours to satisfy state requirements.  The Program includes extensive instruction and practical experience in Hair Cutting, Hair Coloring, Perms, Retailing Products, and Business Ethics.

 

OBJECTIVE: To prepare students to become eligible to take the Florida State Board exam and ultimately receive a Cosmetology License. To prepare students to meet the public with personal poise and assurance and to make a significant contribution to the profession. 

 

 

 

Barbering Program

BARBERING 1200 CLOCK HOURS

The Barbering course of study is designed to prepare students for the Florida State Board Barber Examination and for profitable employment as a barber. The course requires completion of twelve hundred (1200) clock hours; equivalent to 8 - 10 months of full time attendance.

Nail Speciality

NAIL TECHNOLOGY 240 CLOCK HOURS

 

For Florida State Certification the Nail Technology Course is a 240 hour program. We include theory and practical applications of manicures, pedicures, and nail enhancements (acrylics and gel) Our program emphasizes people skills, safety and sanitation procedures for students as these items ensure every students success in the workforce.

 

Facial Specialist

FACIAL SPECIALIST PROGRAM 260 CLOCK HOURS

In this program, students are required to learn all aspects of Facial Specialty that will enable them to become certified, licensed and employed as a Facial Specialist in the State of Florida. These skills will include the ability to do massaging and treatments of the face or scalp with oils, creams, lotions or other preparations. They will learn to use the materials and equipment required in giving facials. They will practice to perfect procedures and manipulations, to describe the chemicals, implements and techniques used to remove superfluous hair on the head, face or neck, to do basic hair removal techniques, and to apply makeup. They will also have an overview of skin care, skin care history and opportunities. The will study and practice basic sanitation and sterilization procedures, study anatomy and physiology, chemistry and skin analysis, cosmetic chemistry and the basics of electricity. They will become knowledgeable in the history of skin, skin types and conditions, skin disorders and diseases. They will study the principles of basic aesthetics. 

Braiding Course 

HAIR BRAIDING 16 CLOCK HOURS

This course is designed to provide 16-hours of instruction in the following areas to become certified in hair braiding:

*5 Hours: HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases.
*5 Hours: Sanitation and Sterilization.
*4 Hours: Disorders and Diseases of the scalp.
*2 Hours: Laws and rules of the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, which affect the governing practices of hair braiding
